Continuing with the back to school theme, today I thought I'd talk a little about getting dressed. The most important thing for us has been:
picking out clothes the night before.
And with two little girls, I have found it especially important to pick out a couple of options--because we have a tendency to change our minds. I used to go round and round with my little strong willed angels and I decided enough already! So, we pick out two outfits and then make a final decision in the morning. If they change their minds, they have one more choice. But they have to stick with the two choices--no going back into the closet for more. I have found any more than two choices and we become overwhelmed and frustrated. Just sayin'.
Another thing I have found (with my 2 year old) is when I make getting ready fun, we tend to have less of a fuss if any.
A friend of mine bought a set of soft photo blocks for my oldest when she was a baby. We originally used it for pictures of family members. One day it came to me that they would make the perfect game for getting ready in the AM.
I created a bunch of graphics on my computer for each step of getting dressed and ready for the day.
Then we just "roll the dice" to see what we do next.
Makes for a much happier morning (when dealing with a stubborn 2 year old. :)
Here are our choices.
