Liebster Award

I want to send out a very HAPPY Thank you to  Andrea over at
One Creative Housewife for nominating me for the Liebster Blog Award.

The Liebster Award is given by bloggers to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. It is to show new bloggers that they are appreciated, and to help spread the word about new blogs.
There are some rules that go along with it...
 1. You must post 11 random things about yourself.
2. Answer the questions that the nominator set for you.
3. Create 11 questions for the people you nominate.
4. Choose 11 blogs you love (with less than 200 followers) and link them in your post.
5. No tag back.

Simple enough, Right!?

11 Random things about me:

1.I am often adding to my "to-do" list just so that I can have the satisfaction of crossing it off.

2. I don't have much patience and I am learning this more and more through my kids. Definitely something I am working on.

3. I love taking on any sort of organizing challenge. (It may be a sickness, I know. :)

4. I used to teach (1st and 2nd grade) in my past life (aka: before kids) and have recently started tutoring in all my spare time. :)

5. I completed my Masters in Reading Education and quit to stay home with my kids the year after. Guess you can never have too much education, right?

6. I like to be busy but can also get stressed out when I feel like I'm being pulled in too many directions. (Hence the need to be organized. :)

7. My husband and I met at a Super Bowl Party---and I don't even watch football. :)

8. We had a destination wedding in Los Cabos, Mexico. Highly recommend that.

9. I love me some sushi. :)

10. For me, the best sound in the world is my daughters' full on belly laughs.

11. I played the piano from age 6 to about 20. I haven't played in probably 10 years and I miss it.

Andrea's questions for me:

1. What is you favorite holiday and why? Gotta be Christmas. I love everything about it: the smells, the lights, family, and of course the reason we celebrate it to begin with, our Lord and Savior.
2. What did you want to be when you were little? I think that one changed quite a bit. For a while I wanted to create jingles for commercials. :) I also talked about being a musical therapist. Random I know. It all revolved around being creative in some sense. I decided to go into teaching my Freshman year of college and combine my love for creativity and music (and organizing) in the classroom.
3. Who is one famous person you would like to meet and why? That's a hard one for me. I've never been one to be "star struck". Maybe Oprah? She just seems to have it all together and is such a role model--especially for women.
4. What is your favorite room in your house and why? Honestly, probably my laundry room. not because I love doing laundry but we recently re-did it and I am loving it.
5. Why did you start your blog?  I love anything to do with organizing and home decor/diy projects. I decided to pursue my passion and work toward starting my own organizing company. The blog was supposed to be sort of an enhancement of the business.
6. Would you rather read a paper book or digital book? Paper. I'm old school.
7. What do you do to relax? Watch a good movie with my hubby or stalk Pinterest. :)
 8. Do you think in 5 years you will still be blogging? I think so but maybe not as frequently. The idea is by the time my kids are both in school full time (about 4 years) I will have enough of a following to really pursue the organizing full time.

9. What is your favorite season and why?
Fall. I grew up in Southern Indiana and that is by far the most beautiful time of year there. The Aspens aren't too shabby here in Colorado either. :)
10.What is your least favorite house chore and why? Only 1? That's hard. I'm probably going to say laundry just because I swear the second I finish it, there is a full basket of clothes waiting to be washed. I will say I don't mind as much in my new laundry room. :)
11. What is your biggest fear? Although snakes rank pretty high, my biggest fear probably has something to do with "letting go" with my kids and letting them learn hard lessons on their own.  I know that is what good parenting is about but it is something I struggle with. Haven't had to deal with too much of that yet as my daughters are still pretty young. But I know teenage years are approaching fast enough and there will be plenty of "hard lessons" to be learned.

My questions for my Nominees:

What is your biggest regret in life?

If you had one word to describe yourself, what would it be?

Who is your favorite actor?

What is your favorite midnight snack?

Do you like to sing in the shower? If so, what do you like to sing?

What experience(s) have marked you the most?

Are you a night owl or a morning person?

How superstitious are you?

What is your one achievement that makes you most proud?

What was your worst dating experience?

What three things would you take with you on an island?

And the award goes to (drumroll please):

You may notice a theme. Many of these blogs even have the word "organize" in their title. (Didn't I tell you it was a sickness of mine?) All of these blogs have to do with either organizing or diy of some kind. Enjoy!

    1. Hi Jane! I'm originally from Evansville (Newburgh which is right outside of Evansville to be exact.) I went to IU for undergrad and know of Vincennes and Martinsville. Small world. I have fond memories and try to get back at least once a year if not twice. Takes me back. Thanks for visiting! :)

    2. Susan, thank you so much for the nomination! I'm chatting about it tomorrow on my blog. But I'm a goof ball and DIDN'T notice you had nominated me until AFTER I'd commented. I had to hit refresh 3 times before I believed my eyes. :) And yes, I'm amused that we not only share the same first name but also a love of organizing! (is it cause and effect or just coincidence?)
