DIY Photo Ornaments

For the first two years of my oldest's life, I bought framed ornaments with the year engraved from Pottery Barn to hang on the tree. And while I still love them, I missed my chance to get one the following year and couldn't for the life of me find one with that particular year.

So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create my own photo ornament.

I bought a container of metal Christmas cookie cutters (I think from Hobby Lobby).
{I bought a bunch so that I would have them for years to come.)

And had a couple of special photos of my girls developed. I also grabbed some Christmas ribbon and scrapbook paper I already had,
as well as my glue gun and some glitter.

I then chose which cookie cutters fit the photos the best and traced the outside of the ornament onto each picture.

Here you can somewhat see where my markings are.

I then did the same thing on the back of scrapbook paper.

And cut them all out.

I then wrote my kiddos' names, ages, and year on the front of the scrapbook paper (which will become the back of the ornaments)

and squeezed a dot of hot glue under the ribbon at the top of each ornament.

Once I glued on the picture and scrapbook paper, I sprinkled in some glitter while my glue was still hot around the edges.

Just to give it a little sparkle. :)

Here they are along with two from previous years.

And here is the back.

And now I have a fun, inexpensive, and easy way to display precious memories throughout our tree.
