New Year's Time Capsule (of sorts)

2013 is officially in full swing. I don't know about you but it doesn't truly feel
like a new year until I've gotten all our Christmas gear down
--which I finally did over the weekend.

So now that I'm officially ready for the new year, I thought I'd come up with a special place to store all the little treasures 2013 will bring.

I started with a simple glass jar from Target,

added a cute chalkboard label courtesy of Martha Stewart (& Staples),

and I was left with a cute lil' place for things such as movie (or other event) tickets, fortunes, pictures, airline tickets, wine, corks--you name it. Anything that represents a special memory from the year.

The idea is to add to it all year and then go through it together on New Year's Eve. Such a fun way to remember all those happy moments.
Then I can decide whether I want to scrapbook or  keep any of the
momentos when starting fresh for the following year.

    1. You are welcome Amy! They do sell them at Target and I think Walmart too! Pretty inexpensive too!

    1. You should! It just makes for a place to keep all those things that either get tossed or you don't know what to do with. I like the idea of reminiscing on New Year's as well. Just a way to recap all the fun memories of the year. :) Good luck!

  4. This is such a great idea! I keep ticket stubs and momentos for scrapbooking too. I like having a designated place to keep everything so it doesn't get lost. I have the same glass jars and use them in my kitchen. Mine came from Walmart - I didn't know Target had the same ones. I just might be using your idea. : )

    1. Thanks and go for it! Such an easy way to find a place for all those little odds and ends that otherwise would probably get lost. :) Have a great weekend!
