I'm continuing to work on my youngest's bedroom. Today's project is a little addition underneath her window.
Although Teah has a bookshelf above her dresser, the books aren't real accessible to a three year old. So I decided to add a little place for some of her favorites close to her bed.
A while back I bought a piece of guttering and end caps from Lowes for under $10. We used part of it here for magazines near my treadmill and kept the rest for this project. It is such an easy and inexpensive way to display books. And perfect for kids because they can see what book to choose.
To do this, we predrilled holes through the gutter and wall. Hubs was holding the other end because it was a little long to balance on my own. We predrilled holes to make sure we were drilling into a stud. If not, we put in an insert to help keep it from coming out of the wall. Little hands tend to tug. :)
Using a small level, we lined up the holes and screwed it in. For this particular piece we used 5 screws to make sure it was secure.
Here is is finished. (Disregard the too short curtains. That was a temporary choice. :)
And here she is filled with a bunch of T's favorite books!
We ended up having to move the rod down a bit to accommodate the curtains. (We did a little switcharoo and brought my oldest's curtains in here and she got T's.)
And I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. Love when that happens. Couple more projects to go. Stay tuned the rest of the week to see how it all comes together!
