I can't believe we are already half way through June. Whew! This summer is already sailing by! Well, seeing that it will be July oh so soon, I thought I'd bring out a little patriotic decor--starting with my mantel.
I love changing things up a bit each year and of course doing things on a budget. So I came up with a couple of projects to do just that.
The first one consisted of some mason jars (which I already had) and some dried Northern, Kidney, and Black beans.
Can you see where I'm going here?
Yup! I just filled up the jars to look kind of like a flag. :)
Oh and I got these cute lil' stars at Michaels to stick inside.
Now for some pinwheels!
Follow the directions above and you've got a cute decoration for very little dough.
I chose a few different red, white and blue scrapbook papers
to mix and match a little.
And then hung them on my plates hanging on top of my mantel (with, shhhh, hot glue). I figure I can just peel off the glue when they come down. (Um, I hope anyway.)
Add a wreath (that I've had forever) to the mirror and some lanterns and
there she be.
A very patriotic mantel if I do say so myself.
Now we're (almost) officially ready for the 4th of July!
