Organized Activity Bags

Earlier this month I talked about creating "activity bags" to be ready for reoccuring   activities that happen within your household. The first one I showed you was our swim bag which is ready (minus a couple small items that are added as needed) to grab at a moment's notice. My girls take swim lessons once a week so having the bag pretty much ready all the time, makes our day run that much more smoothly. Me likey. :)

The same goes for other activities my kids are in.

They (including my husband, the coach) are in baseball and soccer this summer so I created what we call the "sports bag".

As you can see we keep everything from uniforms, to water, to sunscreen, to whistles  altogether so that we are always ready for the next practice or game.

As of now it all fits nicely in one bag. (Although I'm aware that as my kiddos grow, so will their stuff, in which case they will each have their own bag(s).)

All I know is my husband has been thankful for this many times over the summer. No more running around aimlessly looking for a baseball mitt or shinguards.

Another example was one I created when the girls were taking dance (we've since taken a break from it). Guess what we called it?

The "Dance Bag" of course!

Inside we kept all of our dancing gear including tights and tutus

to cute lil' ballet slippers.

This was also so handy for those days we had things to do before dance but couldn't make it home before class. It was just one less thing to think about. Because we usually have more than enough on our plate, don't we?

The last crucial step to creating these "activity bags" is coming up with place to keep them where they are easily seen and accessible. Ours is currently our laundry/mudroom, since it leads straight to the garage. (It also makes it easy to return uniforms to the bag after they've been washed.)

Doesn't do anybody any good to pull everything altogether and then make it hard to get to...or worse yet, forget where you put it. (Yes that has happened to me too!)
