Back to School Pt. 1: Decor

It's the last week before my kiddos head back to school. I can't even believe that my  oldest is heading to {gulp} Kindergarten!

Well to keep the excitement {and sanity} up, I've decided to devote the next couple of weeks to getting ready and organized for the new school year.

First on the list:
A little

back to school decor.

So I picked up a cute frame, some school-themed scrapbook paper, ribbon, felt, and a little burlap from Hobby Lobby (as well as a couple of things I already had on hand).

The felt became little leaves, which I hot glued to the tops of my already existing plates.

Can't say back to school without apples, can you?

Then I jazzed up the frame with a little scrapbook paper, ribbon, and some vinyl words I cut with my Silhouette.

Next came a little paint....and apples

to stamp on my newly cut burlap.

Easy and kind of fun. :)

Once the paint dried, I added a little black paint to create a stem and seeds and then hot glued a little back to school ribbon to create a bunting.

Cute right?

A couple of silver buckets full of pencils keeps with the theme.

And our mantle is officially "back to school" ready.

Now for the rest of us!

{Stay tuned for lots of getting organized for school this week and next.}

  1. So many fun ideas! My daughter would love making that banner. This would be cute for a teacher's class or lounge too. I'd love for you to share on our Back to School Linky Party! http://www.theeducatorsspinonit.blogspot.com/2013/08/back-to-school-with-kbn-link-up-party.html
