Happy Halloween everyone! Today is October 31st which means I'm up to my 31st post in my series: 31 Days to Transform the Heart of Your Home. (If you would like to read up on the whole series, go here.)
Well, yesterday I revealed our ever evolving kitchen. And today, I'm ready to share our
Lots of little projects add up to one big makeover. So before I show you the now, I thought we should take a quick stroll down memory lane and see the before again.
Not bad....but room for improvement.
The shiny red walls had to go and I was SO ready for a change.
Are you ready to see the new and improved family room?
So much brighter and airier.
As well as the infamous wall of molding (Thank you Dad. More than you know.)
On a side note, the idea is to eventually wire and hang a flat screen over the mantel and then rearrange the furniture a bit (possibly add a few chairs?). But for now we will keep the armoire with the TV where it is.
Removing the cornices and blinds and adding our own drop cloth curtains hung by decorative screws, helped to really draw the eye up and to the windows more.
Adding fabric to the back of the bookshelves as well as hardware to match the kitchen really helped bring some color to this side of the room add a little pop.
Then of course the pillows that my mom sewed (Thank you Mom.) from any extra fabric we had left over helped tie the couch in as well.
So excited with the results.
Are you ready for the nighttime view??
Love that just by adding some lamps
and other mood lighting, the room just feels cozy.
And to me that's what a house is supposed to feel like.
I had such a blast bringing you all along for the ride as we truly transformed the heart of our home. I so hope you enjoyed it as well. I am a little pooped from 31 days of consecutive posts so I may take a couple days off but I'll be back real soon to post the November checklist as well as some more great projects I have in store.
