Seeing that Thanksgiving is right around the corner, I have been devoting some time to organizing the kitchen. Last week I showed how I reorganized our dish towel drawer. Today I turned the focus to the cabinets under the sink.
Here is the before. As we all know, the water pipes and disposal make for a very awkward space to utilize to its fullest.
And because of that, it just became a sort of cluster of cleaning products and saran wrap.
So I did what I always do to start: Take everything out.
There had obviously (at one time before we moved in) been some water damage of some sort and I knew I wanted to cover it.
I decided to use a mat designed just for this space.
(Found it at Bed Bath and Beyond.)
I liked it because it was cleanable, easy to cut to size, and easy to remove---just incase there was ever another leak.
I also bought a small tension rod
to get the spray cleaners up off the floor.
A long basket with a stackable top (Walmart) was perfect for the rest of the cleaning products, extra soap, and sponges.
On the other side is a box of dishwasher packs and a small basket used to house dirty dishtowels so that I'm not constantly having to run them to the laundry room.
I also mounted a plastic bag holder (that I already had) horizontally to hold
Let's compare, shall we?
I'm liking the new arrangement much more than before. Not only is it cleaner and more organized but everything inside is intentional and not just thrown in there just for the sake of it.
