Birthday Week–Day 1 Balloon Wreath

Well, some of you may know that we just got back from a week long trip to Panama City, Florida. Ahhhhh………

Here’s a cute pic of my niece with my two girls. They had a blast and made such wonderful memories. I get teary-eyed just thinking about it (I’m a bit of a sap). If you’d care to see any more pics from our trip you can on our family blog:

Now….back to reality. My daughter’s fifth birthday is less than a week away so I thought I’d devote this week to some of the traditions we have regarding birthdays and how I prepare for them as well as the birthday bash that goes along with them.

First on the list:

The Birthday Balloon Wreath

Now I’m sure many of you have seen these all over blog land but unfortunately I don’t have any pics of me making it. (I made this a few years a go when I was merely a blog stalker and hadn’t really even thought of starting my own blog. Sorry.)

However, I found the tutorial I used so if you want to make one…you’re in luck Go here to see how.

The tutorial just uses balloons, so I decided to snazz it up a bit more with some curly ribbon and birthday related chipboard that I found in the scrapbook department of Hobby Lobby. I used pins for the curly ribbon and simply hot-glued on the words.

This little baby makes her appearance the week before each one of our birthdays. Kind of leads to the anticipation don’t ya think? My kids think so anyway. 🙂

***Stay tuned the rest of the week as I show you some other traditions (the birthday book/interview and the silhouette and hand tracing), my birthday/party planning sheet, and my attempt at a castle cake (the theme this year is “Princesses and Pirates”). Should be an interesting eventful week. 🙂 Wish me luck!
